Risk Assessment

First Day of the Three-Week Period

We are back! This is the first day of the three-week period where we over the course of 15 days will bring the Companion Sculpture from an idea in our heads to reality. Or well, as close to as we can.

We already have in place a rough product description, component list, some sketches, a moodboard and a function-means tree.

Today we started the meeting by talking about our personal expectations for the three-week period and how we will keep the motivation sky high throughout the project. We also settled some practical details on how we will meet.

The main job of today was to identify the risks we may face. We split the types of risks up into four categories: concept related, project management related, software related and hardware related risks. We mentioned 5-10 risks under each category and discussed how probable we consider the risk to be, what the consequences could be if it happened, and how we could possibly eliminate or minimize this risk. In some cases we had to accept that the risk is there without yet knowing how to minimize it.

The risks we have thought of so far. On Monday, we will review this Risk Assessment with the Course Responsible and TAs. From there, we will go into deeper planning of the project and get started for real.

Stay tuned!
